Overcoming Failure

Do you still dream? Or have you given up on your dreams, trudging through life day after day, afraid to try--and perhaps, to fail?

I'm taking a big chance even bringing up the subject of failure. It's just not upbeat. However, I want you to succeed, and realize your potential--whether your goal is to save enough money to travel, start your own ministry or business, or get out of debt. And in order to succeed, you need to understand failure.

You've probably heard the old adage by now: "Those who fail to plan, plan to fail." What if in the past you planned your travel, ministry, business or investment ventures in detail, but still didn't succeed? Should you give up, or try again?

You hardly ever hear successful people admit to failure. There is a definite stigma to failure in our society; people won't even talk about it. Perhaps they superstitiously fear that even bringing the subject up will cause it to occur!

Matthew Lesko, in "Infobusiness," (887 S. Orem Blvd., Orem, Ut., 84058-5009) writes: "Everybody fails but no one ever tells you about it. I had two failing businesses before I got lucky with what I am doing now. In 1975 I even had a computer software company that failed. Looking back at the growth of the computer business since then, I feel that I must have been the only person in the country with a computer company that didn't make it.

It's not only me; everybody who does anything in the world has to experience failure. We all know that Henry Ford was responsible for manufacturing the first mass produced automobile called the Model T. But very few people are aware that the Model T was not his first automobile. he went through models from A to S that all were failures before he got it right. Coca-Cola was only selling a dozen cases a week for a long time before they got it right. Even Thomas Edison failed over 1,000 different times while working on the filament for the light bulb before he was successful."

Zig Ziglar has said, "We're born to win, but we're programmed to fail." You can overcome any negative programming you may have experienced from your past. America is still the land of opportunity. Those who believe, can still succeed. There is no secret to success. Just keep on trying. Persistence is the key.

Don't let anybody steal your dreams!
